Project Update: Working in Shopping Malls

When picturing shopping malls, it is easy to think of wide expanses filled with bustling stores and consumers moving from store to store. Thinking about what it takes to build these locations, especially in malls that are already open to the public is different.

Arcadia Electrical is presently working on building the new Zara in King’s Plaza Mall and Tommy’s Tavern in the Staten Island Mall. Additionally, Arcadia recently completed the Ulta Beauty in the Staten Island Mall which opened this past Friday on May 18, 2018.

All three jobs are new construction that require full build out for the retail space that are occurring while each mall remains fully operational. While working on projects of this scope is not unique for Arcadia, it presents challenges that are different than those in other locations including the protections of marble flooring around the construction site, the use of a very large transformer at the King’s Plaza Mall and perfect safety execution to ensure the safety of both the electrical contractors on site, the mall staff and the shoppers on the premises.

These jobs won’t stop there. Arcadia was also recently awarded the Barnes and Noble project in the Staten Island Mall. Construction is set to begin immediately.
