Project Spotlight: Arcadia Electrical Sets the Foundation for a Brighter and Greener Greenpoint Library

In the beginning of January 2019, Arcadia Electrical began an 18-month-long contract with the Brooklyn Public Library to provide electrical and power installations for the much anticipated, state-of-the-art Greenpoint Library and Environmental Educational Center  located at (107 Norman Ave., Brooklyn, NY), as part of a multi-million dollar grant from the Greenpoint Community Environmental Fund, NY State Education Department and Library and City capital funding.

Despite construction set-backs due to the asbestos removal in the former foundation, the new infrastructure is now in place and Arcadia Electrical has stepped in full force to bring the 18,000 square foot library to life.

The electrical installations include a robust security and fire alarm system  and an intricate Tele Data technology platform that will provide access to high speed data information. Additionally, as part of an effort to keep Greenpoint Library green, Arcadia Electrical will place LED lighting throughout the building as well as a new Lutron Control Lighting system. Lutron’s automated control solutions offer a variety of light dimmers to create unique ambiances, while saving energy and reducing costs. Such green design features will not only make the building more sustainable but will also exceed LEED Green Building Certification requirements. The new library is scheduled to open its doors to the public in Fall 2019.
